Daily Light
Modern life teaches us to hurry. God often teaches us to wait. Waiting can feel uncomfortable because it exposes our desire to control circumstances and predict outcomes. Yet throughout Scripture, many of God's greatest servants learned that waiting was not wasted time. It was holy preparation. Simeon waited faithfully for the promised Messiah. Year after year he worshiped, prayed, and trusted God's promise. When the infant Jesus was finally placed into his arms, decades of patient hope were fulfilled in a single joyful moment. Anna also waited. She worshiped with fasting and prayer, faithfully serving God day and night until the Redeemer appeared. Neither Simeon nor Anna wasted their years. Their waiting became worship. The Way of Quiet Light treasures this sacred rhythm. Waiting is not spiritual inactivity. It is active confidence that God remains at work even when His timing differs from our own. While we wait, He teaches patience. He deepens faith. He refines motives. He prepares both the blessing and the one who will receive it. Sometimes the greatest transformation occurs not when God changes our circumstances, but while He changes us. Do not rush ahead of Him. Do not despair if His answers seem delayed. The Lord has never forgotten one promise He has made. Today, wait quietly before Him. His mercies are new every morning. His timing is always perfect. And those who patiently trust Him will never be disappointed.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Teach me to wait upon You with confidence and peace. Guard me from impatience, discouragement, and fear when answers seem delayed. Help me trust that You are always working, even when I cannot yet see what You are doing. May my waiting become an act of worship that honors Your perfect wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Reflection
Question: Am I willing to trust God's timing even when it differs from my own expectations?
Today's Practice: Spend ten minutes today doing nothing except quietly sitting before God. Resist the urge to fill the silence. Simply wait in His presence with a trusting heart.
“Waiting upon God is never empty time—it is time spent in the hands of perfect wisdom.”
